Case Study – South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Women’s Development Programme: “Successfully Managing Your Work Life Through Change”

Developed in conjunction with the SYFR task group, the programme had a two stranded approach to support the development of individual women within the organisation to “develop a mind-set, network, toolkit and set of resources to use positively to manage their personal development and work life, both in the immediate and longer term” and to support the development of the organisation itself – “To identify organisational and personal barriers, enablers & solutions to women’s development in SYFR”.

The programme was delivered over four months and included:

  • four half day workshops for three groups of delegates
  • a range of exerciseswith an individual and organisational focus
  • personal development toolsand a self development workbook
  • presentations from internal and external speakers
  • informal networking

The programme and resulting research report were a great success and culminated in a Women’s Development Conference in February 2015 which was attended by over 85 men and women from 28 different Fire and Rescue Services.
