Our review of 2018

It’s been a positive year for Women to Work with some wonderful highlights. We’re so grateful to our clients and supporters and this comes with a huge thank you to you all.

Our year both began and ended with us as guest speakers at two separate gender pay gap events in London. It was fascinating to hear more about the gender pay gap and to share our own work around supporting women to maximise their potential. We also ran a session for Energy UK in 2018.

Our work continued with Chess, ICT, currently Number 1 in the 2018 Sunday Times 100 Best Companies to Work For and we delivered our final workshop for their first Empowering Women Programme which launched on International Women’s Day 2017. The next programme was then rolled out for a second time on International Women’s Day 2018.

2018 also saw us travel the country for Women in the Fire Service UK. Our Women’s Development Programme for Women in the Fire Service UK offers fire and rescue services the opportunity to host a programme for women from their own and other local fire and emergency services. In 2018 we visited and delivered programmes in Hull, London, Hastings, Cambridge and Bedford for Humberside FRS, London Fire Brigade, South East Region and the East Region. We were made so welcome at every fire station we visited and we look forward to more in 2019.

We also launched a programme for South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue’s Middle Managers, a development programme for individuals and continued working with our one to one coaching clients, taking on new clients both face to face and by phone.

We are continuing to deliver our ILM Level 5 Certificate and Diploma programme and 2018 saw us running more workshops and celebrating completions for four of our clients.

Our Work Life Discovery Coaching workshops thrived in 2018 and we were able to continue to offer free development opportunities for women. We are so grateful for the support of Joyce Gray and the Sheffield Business & Intellectual Property Centre at Sheffield Central Library. We also announced our research project with Professor Penny Dick from Sheffield University Management School to look at women’s careers and can’t wait for this to really take off in 2019.

Our own development continued too as we each worked on our own personal development, supervision and cpd, with us completing webinars and attending courses in supervision, Motivational Interviewing, CBT in Coaching and more. So much of our own development and learning goes into our work with clients and we have more plans for this in 2019.

And it was a big year for each of us personally too as between us we experienced a house move, some significant birthdays within our families, some travel, and even a puppy!

So it’s with a deep sense of gratitude that we say goodbye to 2018 and thank you to our wonderful clients and supporters as we welcome in the new. Here’s to a fabulous 2019 for us all!
