Who am I at my best?

“The process of identifying and utilizing your strengths in everyday life has been linked to an elevated sense of vitality and motivation (Clifton & Anderson, 2001), increased probability of achieving goals, and a stronger sense of life direction (Hodges & Clifton, 2004). It has also been linked to higher self-confidence, engagement, and productivity (Peterson & Seligman, 2004).”

We know from all the women we have worked with that taking time to really know themselves can have a profound impact on how they see themselves and therefore their future.

The quote above from www.positivepsychology.com highlights the positive impact of identifying and utilizing your strengths.

But it can be all too easy to dismiss what we are great at, and instead to focus on where we might be doing less well, and get stuck in the negative, rarely noticing all the positives we bring.

If we change our focus instead to knowing ourselves and our strengths and all that we have achieved that we are proud of, we are able to feel more confident and to recognise all that we do bring to a situation.

This article explores more reasons why it matters as well as how you can find out what your strengths are. One such way is to take Professor Martin Seligman’s test which you can find here.

We’d encourage you to take some time to recognise your strengths and where you use them in your day to day life – to notice and celebrate who you are at your best. This self-coaching tool can really help. Remind yourself on a regular basis, and just see what a positive impact it can have …
